Nakashima Makoto（Japan）

Born in 1966, Nakashima Makoto is artistic director of the BIRD Theatre Company, chairman of the Toride Art Project Office and a representative to the BeSeTo Theatre Festival Committee for Japan. In 2006, he moved to Tottori, renovated an abandoned school and founded the BIRD Theatre Company. Since 2008, he began hosting the BIRD Theatre Festival, supported by the local community and government. In 2014, he became the Japanese representative on the committee organizing the BeSeTo Theatre Festival－an international theatre festival between Japan, China and Korea－and has been closely involved with it ever since. Through such international collaborations, Nakashima aims to make the BIRD Theatre Company and Tottori a creative center for theatre artists from Japan and abroad.
