Alash Ensemble（Russia）

Alash are masters of Tuvan throat singing (Khoomei), a remarkable technique for producing multiple pitches at the same time. What distinguishes this gifted trio from earlier generations of Tuvan throat singers is the subtle infusion of modern influences into this traditional style. While its overall sound and spirit remain decidedly Tuvan, one can find complex harmonies, western instrumentation and contemporary song forms in Alash's music. In addition to winning multiple awards for traditional throat singing in international Khoomei competitions, they have released four CDs of their own: Alash Live at the Enchanted Garden, Alash, Buura and Achai.
